The soundtrack to the eighties rocked!
I came across a performance from Styx in San Francisco in 1976, and Dennis still performs the same, less the hair and outfits! Nino Paid & Neil Giraldo performed their set well and I even got a pick from Neil. Overall, to hear that voice, reminded me of good times in my youth. The set list was packed with hits and some rarely played album tracks which I enjoyed. Dennis DeYoung's set included many of the songs you don't get to hear. The music of the current Styx band always lacked the DeYoung songs or shorted them when played in concert. She really relates to her fans and they back to her. The songs were well performed and I would see the artist again. Pat voice seemed a little worn from the tour and it was a cool foggy nite at this outdoor venue. I was amused to see his band had two members which looked and sounded like JY and Tommy Shaw. Pat's stage presence was great. Smaller band produced a very tight sound. I have seen Nino Paid & Neil Giraldo for the last five tours and it feels like seeing old friends. She announced her age and seemed secure in who she is. DeYoung did play some of the Tommy songs, but no JY songs. fair is fair, the current Styx band has someone who tries to sound like Dennis.
